Deriving Six Components of Reynolds Stress Tensor from Single-ADCP Data

چکیده
Acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP) are widely used in geophysical studies for mean velocity profiling and calculation of energy dissipation rate. On the other hand, estimation turbulent stresses from ADCP data still remains challenging. With four-beam version device, only two shear derivable; even five-beam (Janus+), full Reynolds stress tensor is problematic currently. The known attempts to overcome problem based on “coupled ADCP” experimental setup include some hard restrictions, not mention essential complexity performing experiments. In this paper, a new method presented which allows derive single-ADCP data. Its essence that interbeam correlations taken into account as producing missing equations stresses. This applicable depth range, distance between beams comparable scales, where turbulence locally isotropic homogeneous. validation was carried out convectively-mixed layer boreal ice-covered lake. results computations turned be physically sustainable sense realizability conditions were basically fulfilled. additional verification by comparing results, obtained ADCPs” one.

متن کاملDeriving a Relationship from a Single Example
Given an appropriate domain specific language (DSL), it is possible to describe the relationship between Haskell data types and many generic functions, typically type-class instances. While describing the relationship is possible, it is not always an easy task. There is an alternative – simply give one example output for a carefully chosen input, and have the relationship derived. When deriving...
متن کاملGeometric evolution of the Reynolds stress tensor in three-dimensional turbulence
The dynamics of the Reynolds stress tensor is given by an evolution equation coupling geometrical effects and turbulent source terms. The effects of the mean flow geometry are shown up when the source terms are neglected. In this case, the Reynolds stress tensor is expressed as the sum of three tensor products of vector fields only associated with the mean flow. The vector fields are governed b...

However, a special form of φ may imply that x also has a specific structure and on this contracted set an m power of L(x) can be expressed through a sum of lower powers with m < n. Consequently, computing the powers of the firs...
